San Andres High School (Magisterio)

Our most ambition project to
date. Preparation of the site began in January 2008, and 2
large groups from the US will participate in the construction of the
high school. The first group is scheduled for February and the
second in April. The High School was completed in April,
and classes began in the new facility in mid-May. |

PreSchool for San Andres
Project Cost: $10,000
Funded by our Summer volunteers
This Summer we had a good and large group of
individual volunteers that built a PreSchool for San Andres.
Two University groups (One from the University of Illinois, and the
other from the University of Guelph), helped to build the walls of
the new school. |

Fencing in the Ecological Park
Project Cost: TOTAL $75,000
Donations Raised to date: $3,500
Due to constant encroachment on the ecological
park, we have decided to build a formal fence around the entire
park, which will 1) completely preserve the integrity of the park,
2) allow all the wildlife inside the park to live in peace from the
neighboring dogs, pigs, children, and folk with rifles, and 3) allow
us to integrate all forms of wildlife that have been extirpated from
the park. |

We finally decided to make the 5 day journey to
the most renowned Mayan Ruins in the Peten. We asked for
donations to help pay the cost so local teenagers could make the
jouney to the greatest Mayan Ruins right in their backyard. |

Trail and Bridge Renovations in Ecological Park
Project Cost: $500
Donations Raised to Date: $500 East Bay
Conservaion Corps
Thanks to the East Bay Consevation Corps from
San Fran Califonia, we renovated the bridges and trails in the park,
and added 4 new ponds for our waterfowl. The East Bay
Conservation Corps also donated an extra $1000 that will go towards
our Natural Resource Management School in 2009. |
